Privacy Policy for FloatNote

This Privacy Policy applies to the FloatNote — Always-On-Top Sticky Notes Chrome extension ("FloatNote", "we", "us", or "our").

1. We Do Not Collect Your Data

Our privacy policy is incredibly simple: FloatNote collects zero personal data. We do not track you, we do not require an account, and we do not use any analytics software.

2. Where Your Data is Stored

All notes you create using FloatNote are saved exclusively in your browser's local storage (using the chrome.storage.local API) on your specific device. Your notes never leave your computer. We have no servers, no databases, and no way to see what you type.

3. Permissions Used

FloatNote requires specific browser permissions to function properly. Here is exactly why we need them:

• Storage: To save your note content, colors, and formatting locally on your device.
• ActiveTab & Scripting: Required to open the floating Document Picture-in-Picture window. Chrome requires a user-initiated script injection on the active tab for this feature to work safely.
• Tabs: Used solely to check the URL of the current page. The extension cannot open floating windows on restricted browser pages (like chrome:// settings), so we use this permission to detect those pages and show you a friendly warning instead of failing silently. We do not track your browsing history.

4. Third-Party Services

FloatNote does not use any third-party services, APIs, or trackers.

5. Changes to This Policy

If we ever make changes to this Privacy Policy (for example, if a new feature requires different permissions), we will update this page and indicate the date of the latest revision.
